At Chauhan Studio, Rhino plays an integral role in the product design process. It enables us to easily translate hand sketches and drawings of concepts and ideas into a three dimensional environment. Rhino’s speed and accuracy allow us to manipulate form and understand proportion, scale and spatial relationships very early on in the design development. Producing numerous variations for an idea is quick and efficient and enables us to stay faithful to the original sketch lines and still realise practicalities and limitations.
The nuances created in sketches can be quickly visualised and Rhino’s efficient modelling features mean that easy manipulation of surfaces is possible. Further exploration of forms and then refining the design within Rhino is an intuitive process which supports and encourages our creativity.
Rhino’s ability to produce work-in-progress information, like rendering and various data export formats, enables constant communication of design development with others involved in the project. This ensures that design direction is adhered to throughout the development.
As we work with various media to express and develop design, it is crucial that our 3-D modeller enables us to flow between hand sketches, Illustrator artwork and digital and photographic imagery. Rhino easily facilitates this allowing us to focus on what is important – designing.
With Rhino’s effective plug-in renderers, we can produce final photo-realistic rendering of the product before moving to the next stage of physical prototyping.
