Westfield Shopping Centre, London

A £1.7bn development at Westfield Shopping Centre. Integral to the scheme, EDAW's work on 16,000 square meters of landscape and public realm has created a grand entrance, attractive and accessible pedestrian streets and vibrant interior and exterior public spaces.

The streetscape incorporates flowing lines in black and silver-grey granite paving which draws shoppers into the space from the new underground, overground rail and bus stations completed by the developer. The generous public realm includes seating, planters, street furniture, trees and ornamental planting.

Pier Head, Liverpool

The new canal extension and landscaping at Pier Head, designed by EDAW and delivered by British Waterways, formed part of the area that hosted hosting the city's Transition ceremony on 10 January 2008.

The public space provided a setting for the end of Liverpool's year as 2008 European City of Culture and the start of its Year of the Environment events.

EDAW landscape architect and project director James Haig Streeter said: "This new section of canal has helped to transform the public space at the Pier Head and will be a wonderful venue to celebrate Liverpool's year as European Capital of Culture."

The canal link and landscape improvements are part of a major regeneration programme at the Pier Head and, in addition to the Pier Head, EDAW has also contributed masterplanning and landscape design to the new Merseyside Promenade at Kings Waterfront.
